| Measuring the Success of Coaching |
|
I've heard again and again--how do we know if coaching really works? If there could be a reliable way to measure its success, this answer could be given with more factual data instead of subjective answers. This leads me to my own question of: In coaching we collaborate together with our clients to ensure that their desired outcome is SMART: Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Revelant, Time-Specific. What about the results of coaching--shouldn't this be something that can be documented and demonstrates the results of coaching? I determined that answer is, Yes. After a year of discussion and creating, Omega Alliance, Inc. of Houston, Texas and the Center for Coaching Excellence has developed a coaching measurement tool. A measurement tool needs to be able to be specific in its measurements, measuring what is attainable, what is important, and is time-specific. This new tool does all of this. We can now measure the effectiveness of coaching skills when applied to a "any" situation. What makes this development important? As coaches we recognize the transformational impact of coaching. How much easier will be it be to explain to an organization or to a client that coaching has been proven to work! At CCE our goal is to do whatever we can to enhance the coaching profession, to prove it viable and reliable. Measuring its success it one way to accomplish this. Begin thinking of organizations that could benefit from being able to measure coaching? How could you benefit your coaching audience by using a coaching measurement tool? We are looking forward to unveiling this new tool in the months ahead and more news will be forthcoming. |
